Not many replies to this one.

I am always interested in the 08 diesels. They were called different names during their time on BR, at Nuneaton they were known as "Dobbins".
Other depots knicknamed them with other names, I beleive Saltly had their own name for them.So come on chaps, lets start talking about the 08s, after all they are still about today giving sterling service, although they have diminished in number, they are still good to see and furthermore they were around in steam days.
I dont think many people talk about them because they know very little about them.
Well they have given many years service and are extremely dependant, never a lot of trouble at all.
There is as far as I know, one still working in what is left of Wolverton works. It is painted in some red livery I beleive.

Anyway this thread was started a long time ago by Ian and no one replied to him, so I hope he does not mind me bringing it up again ?

A lot of railwaymen referred to theses as '350's'. Here's one I prepared earlier:

Thanks Dave,

I last saw 08 500 painted red and still named "Thomas 1" shunting at Doncaster Works North in 1999.
