Fair Rises In The UK

Hi all fellow railway fans

For the fourth year running, fares in the UK have risen above inflation. We pay through the roof for a service that is not up to standard. We do not diserve this and it is now time to make the rail companies realise that we will not put-up with this anymore.

Why not have a day where trains will run empty?

If you have any other ideas on how we couild protest then please post them here. I am hoping we will come to a concensus and get something going that will show the train operators that we will not be taken for a ride anymore.

Regards and happy New Year to you all

Patrick

It seems the best way to go now is by booking tickets online. I agree that it is unfair for the prices to rise again as I discovered how high of a pirce I had to pay for a local journey on Thursday.

Question

The thing is if services improved (ie no stirkes - central im looking in your direction) then no one would really have a problem. In many areas pacers continue to be the norm - hardly a cracking service!

The fares are quite reasonable here, 3.70 to go to Aberdare from Danescourt, and currently it's 4.90 for a return to Swansea from cardiff central - great!

And that's not the worst of it.

We are paying for the system twice. Once via the fares we are charged, and then again through subsidies via our taxes. Frankly speaking, it's a bloody disgrace.
