Sentinel Shunters
I am just wondering how many Sentinel Shunters there are around the UK, I know there is an 0-4-0 on the West Somerset Railway and both an 0-4-0(under restoration) and an 0-6-0 variants on the East Somerset Railway.
Can anyone help?? |

Other sentinels
There had used to be several at the Austin-Rover works at Longbridge, Blue circle has several at its plant near Dunbar, mind most of those at Dunbar will never run again..
There were also loads at various power stations and coal pits. A lot of the aggregate companies still use them, although some are of the later non sentinel versions, remember that the last version of the design were made by Tomas Hill of Rotherham. An the MOD has used them a lot, but for obvious reasons these are seldom seen and photgraphed. trust this of help. |

Suggest you might also have a chat with Hunslet engine - they own several heavy 0-6-0 Sentinel shunters within their hire fleet, some of which are being modernised with a new superstructure along the lines of the Thomas Hill Vanguard and Steelman locos - look underneath though and you can still see its a Sentinel!!
