caley sleeper coaches
hello to all choo choo fans; this is my first appearance on this forum; and i have a question; for anyone in particular: i purchased hornby sleeper coaches wow; it must of been in 2009 the coaches are euston to glasgow 00 gauge caledonian coaches, i wish to dismantle some of these coaches to insert lighting, i attempted this once before with a stanley knife to prize of the roof of the coach but ended up damaging part of the roof; so i gave it up as a lost cause, it doesnt help to work in the construction sector, and have hands like shovels; there must be someone out there who can throw some light and advise on this matter, hello to all; my name is thomson kerr and i live in east kilbride 12 miles south of glasgow, and apart from my wife and daughter and GLASGOW RANGERS i love trains

Hello Thomson and welcome to the railway Forum. I don't know the 00 gauge Caledonian coaches, but most Hornby coaches can be opened up by using a fine bladed screwdriver between the side of the body and the chasse. There are normally 4 lugs, one on each corner. Do them one at a time, but insert a bit of thin plastic as each one is opened to stop them re-locking as you move on to the next lug.
Hope this helps.
