Prestwich engine sheds

I have a strong memory of steam trains shunting up and down a yard behind my infants school in Prestwich, Manchester in the 1960s. My school was in Rectory lane. I have used Google Earth to find the yard but it no longer exists.
Does any one else have any recollections or, better still, photographs.

Welcome Stressy.

Unfortunately it is the wrong part of the country for me.
But I am sure there will be many photos around.

Hello Stressy and welcome to the forum.
Was this railway yard on the electrified Manchester - Bury line?
