TransPennine Express buys 125 new carriages
UK transport system is moving one step forward and recently TransPennine Express (TPE), which links Huddersfield with major cities including Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Hull, is spending £230m on 25 brand new five-carriage trains which will be in service across the network by 2019.The new train fleets will provide an extra 13m seats a year – enough to fill the Old Trafford stadium more than 150 times.

If you ever try to travel on the Manchester - Leeds line at rush hour, you will know that for all the extra annual seats this implies, you will still be standing up crushed like sardines! If they could arrange a ten minute interval service for rush hour, they might get somewhere near beating the problems of overcrowding. As usual for the North of England; too little, too late.
