Loco hauled services on the WCML

VT are going to be using loco hauled services on the WCML as from when they do work on 390 units which I believe to be around May. It will see either class 87's or 90's being used on Euston to West Midlands serivces.

That's the problem with abandoning the tradition of locomotive and carriages. If something goes wrong with a glorified bog cart, the entire train is out of service.

Air flushed loos! They'll be using Timken roller bearings in the flush handle next!

I was hoping the loco hauled services would make their way further up north, e.g. on Euston to Manchester services, last time I went on a loco hauled service on this route was just over a year ago, being hauled by 87002, I believe this loco may well be used on the loco hauled services later in the summer.

I much prefer Mk3's anyday, they seem to have a much nicer atmosphere comapred to a pendolino. What I thought was a strange choice was VXC's use of Mk2's on the Man Picc - Bham NS services, they should have used Mk3's, they would have matched the DVT being used and they could have included a buffet.

Loking at the loco hauled services on the VT network currently, the MK2 + Class 90 set are still being used, last Tuesday the set was made up of an ex Anglia first class coach, I have a photo that will soon arrive on my fotopic site. Thewre was talk a while ago that VT would use a DBSO instead of a DVT for extra accommodation, would love to see more Anglia stock at Piccadilly.

I agree, but on the other hand, its got to be better than a Voyager - may the loco-hauled services continue for years to come
