Vandals trash Stamford model railway exhibition

Thousands of pounds worth of model railway exhibits have been destroyed in an act of "total wanton destruction".

Market Deeping Model Railway Club lost years of work after the raid at Welland Academy in Stamford on Saturday.

Sad indeed.
Just oxygen thieves.
Hopefully they videoed their efforts and will be caught when they upload it to social media.
House vandals in the US were caught after they posted their efforts on social media.

The sad thing is that the people responsible for this damage will probably end up embroiled in our "not to be proud of" modern day drug culture and are no doubt already preparing their path to future prison terms.
What a sad loss of so much beautiful and skillful work.

It's sad that people behave in ways like that, but society seems on a downward spiral at times.

Better news,

The big problem is that some of these modelers are in their 60's and 70's and have spent years building their lay-outs. They will never be able to rebuild them again. I feel that some of to-days youth only care for themselves and to hell with everyone else.
Rant Over, but not the feeling for those poor people who have lost their layouts and rolling stock.

Page 23 of this morning's Times has a piece about the train vandals being 15 and 16 year old drunken schoolboys.
They are said to be writing letters of apology and have been arrested by Lincolnshire Police on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage but have now been released on bail.
What gets into these boy's heads to do such a thing in the first place is just baffling.

Sadly Master,
It be social media that gets into the heads of juveniles today.
Plus, they know that coppers and authorities are hamstrung in regard to action.
Parents must be present here when ever juveniles are arrested and interrogated today.
Not so back in my drunken schoolboy days.
The coppers would give you a real good kick up the posterior.
Mind you, us drunken schoolboys never were game enough to cause any damage.
And, we didn't have any urge to cause damage.
We were just rowdy.
But, even that was not tolerated by the boys in blue.
The debacle over mobile phone access at school today is a good example of just how ridiculous things have become.
Steve.

Hope they get named and shamed and nobody will employ them rather than just a slapped wrist.
