Blackout shuts New Street station (BBC News)

A power failure at Birmingham's New Street railway station leads to it closing for about 30 minutes.

I used to get trains from there in the '70s - it was always dark down on the platforms without any natural light. Just as if there was a perennial black out. I guess the locomotives must have been battery powered!
