I think we have yet another case of "benefit of hindsight!" For many years the Cairngorm Ski Area was very successful, but was hampered by a chairlift that regularly closed when the wind "got up" leaving the top half of the mountain inaccessable to less accomplished skiers. Riding the chairlift in Cairngorm Winter Conditions could also be quite a trail! I know I have done it!

The completion of the Funicular Railway sadly coincided with quite a long run of mild winters with poor snow cover. Hopefully this year's snow will last well into May and the Railway will have a bumper year. I am sure the skiers will enjoy riding up the mountain inside the train rather than swinging on a chairlift!

Best wishes,

John H-T.
