Crewe
Hi all.
First post for ages due to not having much time to do anything other than work , Anyway, I have now got some well earned holidays coming up and hopefully I shall be off all of August, I`m planning to spend a day at Crewe to do some photography so i need to pick a good one for freight operations if thats possible! Class 56`s are on my hit list as well as 37`s ,20`s ect. Anybody offer any info please? it would be appreciated. Second question, I`m 62 now and I`m wondering what are the chances of seeing the class 28 Co Bo running again in my lifetime ? assuming i live till I`m 75 ish . Cheers Cliff.

Not been "spotting" for about 30 years now but I still travel a lot by rail & I thought Stafford would be a better option for freight.

Yes Anzac, i think Bubbewrap is correct, Stafford can be a pretty busy place especially on Tuesdays, but there is no guaranty of a class 56.

Went to Stafford station this afternoon, a couple of mates said there had been 28 X freights between 09.30am and 16.45pm, including a brand new 66, a 37, and the new car train service from Dagenham to Liverpool, also passenger trains every few minutes.

Hi guys and thanks for the info sounds like a good day could be had there but tbh Stafford is a little further than I wanted to travel, Suppose if I went to Crewe on a Saturday I could fit a trip around the Heritage centre as well, not been for a couple of years so could be interesting.

I suggest you check Real Time Trains (RTT) at Crewe to help choose the date for your visit.
For example, this is the freight list for Thursday 23 July 2015: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sear...der=wtt&toc=ZZ Note that RTT data remains on site for only 7 days, so you will have to choose a new date if you use this link after 30/7/2015. Also note that some trains marked "ZZ" may be MPVs or mobile track machines rather than full-length freights. Also note that "Q" trains run only when required, and that can be quite infrequently. Hartford, Winsford or Acton Bridge would be better nearby locations for freight photography. |
