Welsh railway bridge raised by 1m to avoid flooding

Black Bridge, which carries the Cambrian Line over the River Dulas near Machynlleth, has suffered from flooding over recent years has been raised by one metre so that it now sits higher than the river flood zone. Using hydraulic jacks risked the bridge twisting or buckling, so the bridge was raised manually by lifting chains over a period of six weeks, which included the relaying of the track once the bridge was in it's new position.
