Miller's dale.

This was a fantasitic station.
When peak rail reaches the station, will there be all four lines replaced between the platforms?
I realise that it was a junction in its heyday, so will Peak rail reopen both lines?

Will the canopies be replaced also?

Will the old peak rail base at Buxton be reopened as the terminus?
Any info would be great.

There have been many miracles in preservation so I am always loath to use the word "never." However I think it is highly unlikely that Peak Rail will ever reopen the line through Miller's Dale.

However I think it may eventually open as a commercial frieght route.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

John, that is interesting, is there something worth mining in that area or are you suggesting it as a freight relief route ? If it was to re-open which line at the junction do you think would be favoured, the one to Buxton or the one to chinley ?

I don't know Pesmo but I believe, according to the local grapevine, that DB Schenker have been investigating the possibility of opening it as a single track frieght route. My guess is that they would use the Chinley link. Last time it was costed is was about £150 million.

Best wishes,

Regarding the question will the old Peak Rail base at Buxton be reopened as a terminus?, I would very much doubt it at least in the short term. Peak rail actually sold it for, I believe, a six figure sum, to the firm who now produce BUXTON SPRING WATER, extracted and bottled on that site.

I believe that Peak Rail still own part of the site. Enough for a platform and run round.

Best wishes,

With only a few industrials and 1 8F it is going to be difficult.
They need a bit more motive power and stoch to be such an enourmous line.

I think lack of motive power at present to run the full route is the least of Peak Rail's problems. They do of courses have several quite powerful Diesels on site!

Best wishes,

"Build it and they will come" !! If the line is rebuilt I'm sure owners of large preserved steam locos will be queueing up to use it
