Railway workers strike over pay (BBC News)
About 12,000 rail maintenance workers walk out on strike but Network Rail says no passenger services were disrupted.

Thats why there are buses between Preston and Carlisle on the wcml - for engineering which is not now going on

There was work going on yesterday, Sat 26th. As I came through the Lune gorge southbound on the M6 I saw two stationary northbound ballast trains just south of Tebay. Class 60`s on each. I also noticed there were floodlights in place, so they had either worked overnight, or were planning to. Hope this helps.

noticed the work going on north of Carnforth so they cant be on strike
