TMD's open or closed?

Hi everyone,

I was having this big debate in the pub about which depots closed, and which are still open after the freight sector went private. However, there are a few i'm not too sure about so I wondered if you guys could check this list and fill in the missing information, or correct me where necessary.

Bristol Barton Hill OPEN
Bounds Green ?
Bescot ?

Crewe Diesel CLOSED

As far as I'm aware,

Knottingley------Open
Motherwell------Closed
Mossend--------Open (unfortunatley)
Inverness-------Open (First Scotrail)

As for others not sure.

Hi Rassy

I do know that St Blazey is still in operation but for how long i dont know they dont have a lot of work anymore.

I am 99% sure that Westbury is still open aswell.

No Motherwell? So there's no loco depot in Scotland now?

Also, is Bescot still open? The yard always looks busy driving past on the motorway but the shed doors are often closed.

Yes Bescot is still open i know a young driver at St Blazey put in for a transfer a couple of months ago but not anymore a lot of drivers there have been made redundant.

I think Ripple Lane is closed
There is a diesel depot alongside what used to be Temple Mills yard
GBRf has a little diesel depot in the old freight shed at March

Ripple Lane Depot closed 1993. Ripple Lane Railhead now base for DBS Stratford Traincrew; clear as mud!

Old Oak Common TMD, which was last used by EWS is closed but The carriage shed and HST depot are still open, as is the HEX depot.
North Pole closed
Ripple Lane closed
Didcot diesel depot closed steam shed preserved
Bristol Bath Road closed
Southall in preservation
Reading open but on borrowed time

St Blazey: OPEN
Crewe Diesel: Used for loco & carriage storeage, occasional stabling.
Crewe Electric: OPEN
Cardiff Canton CLOSED
Didcot: Never had a diesel depot, locos stable in yard/station area.
Eastleigh: OPEN, also GBRf & Network Rail locos stable at station.
Finsbury Park: Demolished in the mid-80's.
Hither Green: now a stabling point (most, if not all the shed demolished)
Immingham: If not yet closed, probably will be before too long.
Inverness: OPEN
Knottingley: OPEN
Merehead: Open as far as I know.
Margam: CLOSED recently
Motherwell: not sure, but locos have been stored there recently.
Mossend: not sure (it was only ever a stabling point, no shed building).
Old Oak Common: TMD now CLOSED, CS OPEN
Ripple Lane: CLOSED
Rugby: There's not been a TMD at Rugby since the 60's, only locos stabled near station.
Stratford: CLOSED & demolished.
Slade Green: OPEN
Stewarts Lane: OPEN
Saltley: possibly still used as a stabling point.
Thornaby: Almost closed I think.
Tinsley: CLOSED & demolished.
Tyseley: OPEN (DMU depot)
Toton: OPEN & HUGE!
Westbury: CLOSED & demolished, locos now stable anywhere (mostly other side yard).
