Australian Railway Museum ravaged by bush fire
The Richmond Vale Railway Museum has been caught up in an out of control bush fire in Australia. They have lost many historic rail vehicles in the fire (mainly wagons plus 3 coaches) and up to 2.5Km of their running line has been destroyed. A bridge has also been damaged by the fire. I have also read a report that a member of staff (a secretary) was trapped in one of the buildings - thankfully the fire passed either side of the building and this building was relatively unscathed and the woman was completely unharmed.
The Richmond Vale is home to quite a few British-built steam locos including an ex-GCR O4, built for the Railway Operating Division of the British Army No.2004. None of the locos appear to have been damaged by the fire. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/new...12692d709e62e8 Tony

It's so sad when these disasters occur.
Let's hope there is much to be salvaged and they get back on track soon.

Just an update.
The Richmond Vale is back in business. I will hafta take a wander up that way some time to take a gander. Steve.

Glad to hear that they are back in business, such devastation must be heart-breaking.
I know that when the Bowes Railway suffered several minor arson attacks their volunteers have been quite distressed. Just recently their waggon 971 has been rebuilt after an arson attack in 2016. some pictures ... http://www.ipernity.com/doc/312383/album/962430
