Will have to get a copy of Hornby Mag for the details. Perhaps I can sell my unmade Kitmaster Kit to help finance it!
Best wishes, John H-T.

Just managed to get a copy of the Hornby Magazine with details of the Hatto's LMS Garratt Project. Looks promising. I note that the pre-order price is £199 but that they will go up to £219 soon after release.
I started to work out the cost of all the bits to motorise my Kitmaster Kit and it looks like it would cost more (with two motors) than buying the Hattons Model! This includers producing a metal chassis. There is also the problem of getting the front motor into the front tank. It would have to drive the leading driving axle. Could be quite a complex job. All in all, if I really want a LMS Garret, I would be better off buying the Hatton's one. Then I can blame them if it doesn't work! All in all I think £199 is a very reasonable price for what is being offered and am leaning towards ordering 7983 in LMS Black. It would of course need to be weathered! Best wishes, John H-T.

I agree this is a great additon to the RTR range, and whilst it is worth every penny I am sure, the hobby is being split into two halfs.
Many of our model club members are on low incomes and could never afford things like this. I hope this doesn't become a rich man's hobby in the future. I could just about afford a loco like this, but I don't think I would get away with it on the household budget! I think I'd I sooner make one!
