Class 465-VS-Class 365
both units are basically the same but which out of the to do you prefer and give a reason why.my opinion its got to be the class 465,and it's because its one of Southern regions modern day workhourses,aswell as Class 319s etc....and since a child i have always loved the units,i dont know why but ive always had somthing for the 465.what about you?

Yes I have something for 465s also. But my thing involves high speed and a line which ends abruptly on a cliff edge....
(Sadly this doesn't occur in the SE Metro area). PS - 365s are vastly better; they have a max speed of 100 instead of 70, and they slow down better as well. Which is one of the reasons why they were taken off SE and sent to the GN. Last edited by Flying Pig; 14th April 2009 at 08:54. |

You know me Southeastern...
I'll always go for a 365. it's my favourite EMU altogether actually. As FP says, they go at 100 and they slow down better. They also have very attractive modified cab fronts fitted by FCC for cab Air Con. No hard feelings though. the entire X65/X66 series are great trains.

The 456,s are having their traction packages replaced with Hitachi ones now.
Should be interesting as these apparently, er, work. Seriously though the Networkers do look good, accelerate very quickly, and they ride brilliantly,( if you feel a bump it is a big ,un as the suspension damps out all but the worst) they just have too much unecessary kit hung on them which made them far too heavy. Their reliability suffered because of that fact, and the plug doors as well. Sliding doors are not as pretty but much more reliable and simpler. I will admit to having never been much of an admirer of them ( EPB and CEP/VEP really took some beating) until we got the Class 376 (yuk, yuk, and thrice yuk though there are those that do like them) and the Thameslink work which brought us into contact with the (admittedly well hammered) Class 319. I started to view them in a different light then. |
