Sad to see them go John?
I've only had a very short journey on a 313 (Brighton-Lewes) on a day of disruption, before changing onto a 377 for the remainder of the journey to Hastings. I don't really recall what the journey was like! Tony |

Hi Tony, I won't miss those old rattlers.
A horrid little cab and 50ish year old technology. The power control was via an air-operated camshaft and could be very slow to take up. The brakes were a mixture of poor air & powerful dynamic. The dynamics were like boat anchors but had a habit of 'dropping out' when you needed them the most. But the retrofitted Aircon was the best I've ever experienced. If you had a toupee (I don't fortunately) it probably would have been blown out the window. See photo below of the shoe-box sized cab. Taken at Kings Cross before a delightful trip out to Welwyn Garden City & back. Last edited by Beeyar Wunby; 15th May 2023 at 17:20. |
