86611 - Info needed

Hi

Looking through a selection of my old APS pics, I came across 86611 - a picture taken by myself at Stafford with one cab end damaged and what appears to be a missing nameplate.

Am I correct in thinking this was one fo 2 86's that was involved in a collision back in 2003 near Stafford and that this particular one was called "Airey Neave"?

Additional info I would be grateful for is also what was the other 86 she was with on that day and also what was the freightliner working involved.

These pics are now on my site and the info will come in use for the captions, also I will upload them to the gallery once the above is known

Many Thanks

Best Wishes

James

James,
Your assumptions are correct. 86611 "Airey Neave" was paired with 86631 and the accident was at Norton Bridge north of Stafford.
There are several photos here:- http://robsrailphotos.fotopic.net/c61640.html

86631 and 86611 were hauling the 4M53 21:54 Ipswich - Manchester Trafford Park when it ran into the back of the 4M57 21:15 Isle of Grain - Manchester Trafford Park.
Details here at Freightliners website:- http://www.freightliner.co.uk/news/2003/NR030020a.doc
