I thought that the 142's were already named - but not with ones that can be mentioned in polite company!

You and 62240 got in before me. The whole idea beggars belief.

What bright spark came up with this one?

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Which coach?
Or is one coach going to be Called Timothy & the other Hackworth.
If other 142s are named & then "split" we could have some amusing combinations!

I think a Class 142 is an excellent choice. It illustrates just how little some trains have changed over the years.
I'm sure Mr. Hackworth would instantly recognise the similarites between the 142 and some of the early coaches used on the Stockton & Darlington Railway.

Fair point John. About the only difference, apart from the I.C.E., is that the 142 has a roof!

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Very true John.
Although, judging by the amount of water that can often be found inside a 142, even that is debatable.

The weight of the plate will probably make the unit topple over, i would personally call it 'BR's Cheapest and Nastiest'
