RIP Dennis Howells
It has been announced that Dennis Howells MBE has passed away at the age of 78. Mr Howells has been the owner of BR(W) 94XX class 0-6-0PT No.9466 since 1977, restoring the loco from Barry Scrapyard condition, first returning it to steam in 1985 & it always looked immaculate.

Dennis was a lovely man who, with his family, looked after 9466 like a pampered pet. They went everywhere with the engine, which was welcomed at events up and down the country, looking after its every need and constantly cleaning and polishing.

Last main line run for 9466 / memorial train for Dennis Howells
It has been announced that 9466 will operate a special main line run on October 20th as a memorial run for Dennis Howells. It will travel from Drayton Green to Princes Risborough and will be a charity fundraiser for St Luke's Hospice, Harrow.
As 9466's main line certificate expires 4 days later, this will almost certainly be the last main line trip for the Hawksworth pannier. https://www.railwaymagazine.co.uk/fi...emorial-train/ Tony |
