Class 66 question.

Today I was wandering aimlessly around Altrincham town centre after visiting the local model shop.

Then I heard the didstinct sound of a class 66 diesel loco.
I ran through the streets (losing dignity on the way) to see the loco running light engine in the chester direction.
The time was approximately 15:30.

I know it is a bit specific but does anyone know what it was doing and what the number was as I did not catch it?

The livery was EWS.
Any takers?

I'm surprised a good steam man like yourself was chasing dirty diesels!

Disappointed in you

With not enough steam around in my area, you take what you can get.
Anything is better than a DMU.
