Newby & Steam train 60163 Tornado Cathedrals Express

Hi,

I am a Newbie, I joined specifically to get some information on the Steam train 60163 Tornado Cathedrals Express.

I live in Arnside, Cumbria and apparently the Tornado will be crossing the Arnside Kent Viaduct on Monday 13th May.
It will be day 5 of the Moors and Mountain tour by Steam Direct.

It should be possible to see the train cross the viaduct on this webcam http://www.arnsidechipshop.co.uk/arnsidepier11.html, the camera will be point at the viaduct at the time, but I don't know the time at the moment. If anyone has the time it would really help us.

So, hopefully, this post might alert other enthusiasts of its passing.

Looking forward to seeing responses.

David

Evening David and welcome to the forum, have a look at UKsteam.info it will tell you all the times of steam workings for the year ahead.

P.S. I was in Arnside yesterday, I had been to RSPB Leighton Moss Silverdale, next time I go I will call in at the Chippy again and introduce myself.

I was just on the point of replying giving you the link to uksteam.info myself. I've checked it out as normally the timings are given a few days before but there's nothing there yet - except to state that 60163 Tornado is now unavailable, 60009 Union of South Africa is scheduled instead.

Hello David and welcome to the forum. I see you have the info you need about the timings. Hope you enjoy and if you wish you could upload your pictures on the gallery. I would be very interested to see the results.
Many thanks
All the best

Hi guys,

thanks for your replies.

the bad news is that the Cathedrals Express is not now using the Furness line as the 60009 Union of SA has not got the relevant permissions and is now going up over Shap to Carlisle.

Doh.

Maybe another day.

cheers all.

David

As you say David, always another day! Disappointing all the same.
All the best
